I am a guitar and mandolin player with a Master's degree in Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have been performing and recording with bands for over 20 years, and teaching for 10. A lot of people teach guitar and mandolin, but I think my unique background makes me a more versatile teacher than most. I love to play rock, and understand how important it is to have an emotional connection to your instrument; you should have fun playing. At the same time, I have an extensive musical education that allows me to help students with technique and theory if they have that interest. I let my students decide what they want to work on, including what musical styles to explore as well as how much theory, sight-reading and technique. For mandolin I mainly teach Bluegrass, Irish and Old-time; for guitar I teach anything and everything. |
